MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Philip II (359-336 BC). AV stater (16mm, 8.58 gm, 2h). NGC Choice AU Strike: 4/5 – Surface: 4/5. Lifetime or early posthumous issue of Amphipolis II, circa 340/336-328 BC. Obverse displays the laureate head of Apollo facing to the right. The reverse presents ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ, with a charioteer driving galloping biga (a chariot drawn by two horses) facing to the right, a kentron in his right hand, reins in his left. There is an ivy leaf right below horses. Le Rider 60. SNG ANS 250-254. Grim portrait with shimmering honey fields. A real beauty.
