Strike 5/5; Surface 5/5. A superb example of a silver denarius of Lucius Verus (AD 161-169). Struck at the Rome mint circa AD 167. The obverse features the laureated head of Lucius Verus facing right. The reverse features Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond. RIC III 574 (Aurelius); MIR 18, 149-14/30; RSC 295. Fully lustrous and wonderfully centered. From the J. Eric Engstrom Collection. Ex Ponterio 91 (4 November 1997), lot 221. (19mm, 3.04 g, 6h).
