This is a common date issue in a desirable superior grade, making it qualified for Registry Set inclusion. This piece would be perfect for a type set of mint state Morgan dollars, or even a full set of pristine mint state Morgan dollars from 1878 to 1904 and 1921. It would also serve as one great Morgan dollar to include in a diverse coin collection.

The San Francisco Mint produced almost 5.3 million Morgan silver dollars in the year 1891. The vast majority of them were housed in government vaults before their release previous to 1960. Many of those coins that were eventually released years after their production were uncirculated, however they were lower-end uncs due to a disproportionate amount of them having bag marks. The typically seen mint state grade today in the 21st century is MS63. It is much more difficult to locate the 1891-S in superior gem state (MS-66).
