Out of the original mintage of 1,136,000, PCGS has graded a substantial 55,947 of the 1884-CC Morgan dollars. That makes this historic Carson City silver dollar, in the spectacular grade of MS66+, quite affordable! There are only 160 graded higher (as of 4/2021), making this a truly affordable registry coin--and conditional rarity--for the collector looking for a great deal on a great coin. Plus, the desirable green CAC sticker documents its superiority within its grade of MS66+. So, what are you waiting for? Wouldn't this relic of the Wild West be the absolutely perfect addition to your numismatic collection?

1884-CC $1 Morgan Silver Dollar PCGS MS66+ (CAC)--$1,225.00 "Affordable CC Dollar"

We at AUCM are pleased to offer this 1884-CC silver dollar, a true relic of the romantic past of our nation. Such coins evoke the fabled history of the Wild West: the silver mines and silver barons, as well as the miners who worked the mines. Close your eyes for a minute and let yourself drift back in time. Saloon doors swing open and the aroma of whiskey hangs in the air. Listen and you will hear a player piano knocking out a popular tune--and the distinctive clang of silver dollars is heard as they are dropped on a wooden bar to pay for a shot of whiskey.

From among the Carson City Morgan dollars, the 1884-CC is one of the most common. This issue was seen to be a major rarity before the GSA sales of the 1970s and 1980. The reason for this is that the GSA had a whopping 962 original bags of that date--962,000 coins--which was more than 84% of the entire original production! Those GSA sales made the 1884-CC silver dollar quite easy to find in mint state through MS65. This issue is one of three coins that form a trinity of similar "CC" dollars (1882-CC, 1883-CC, and 1884-CC) that are generally well-struck and offer, according to Bowers, "beautifully deep frosty lustre." The 1884-CC issue is the most widely available of all the Carson City silver dollars.
