1882 T$1 Trade Dollar PCGS PR64CAM (CAC)
A beautiful proof Trade dollar to add to your collection!
Trade dollars were produced exclusively in proof format in 1882, with a relatively low mintage of 1,097 pieces. This example is extremely attractive in its near-Gem Cameo grade. Flashy, deep mirrors contrast the rich, frosty devices with glassy reflectivity. The strike is razor-sharp on both sides. Trade dollars (1873-1883) are a highly collectible series as both circulation strikes and proofs.
An impressive collection of proofs could be assembled (except for the über rare 1884 and 1885). While the total number of survivors from this proof-only issue is fairly high in comparison to other Trade dollar proofs, its rarity is far greater due to pressure from date collectors who have no circulation strike substitute to fill the 1882 slot in their Trade dollar set.
PCGS has graded 53 examples as PR64CAM with 34 finer. Collectors Universe prices this proof issue at $6,750.00 in PR64CAM. In CAC, there are 15 in PR64CAM with 13 finer.
