NGC has graded 1 of this VAM variety as MS64 in its Green Label holder.

Discovered by Ted Clark, October 1970. Reverse discovered by Howard Newcomb, February 1913.

This coin is a Hit List 40 Morgan VAM.

7 III2 6 ∙ B2a (8/7 Dash)

Obverse III2 6 – 8 repunched over 7. A short ear shows at the left at top of the second 8. Bottom of stem shows as low dash below 8. Bottom loop of 8 shows two diagonal polishing lines and die chips on the right side and top. The 0 shows no part of the 9 but has a slight bulge on outside at 10 o'clock. First 8 is doubled at top inside of lower loop and has die chips inside upper loop.

Reverse B2a – Normal die of B2 type with centered small II CC mint mark and parallel arrow feathers.

Comments:

This obverse die was used on 1880-CC VAM-7 & 1880-CC VAM 7-A, then polished down & reused on 1880-CC VAM-8 and 1880-CC VAM-9.
