1877-CC $10 Liberty Head Eagle NGC AU50
The 1877-CC Liberty eagle had a miniscule mintage of 3,332 examples. PCGS CoinFacts estimates the surviving population at 60-75 pieces in all grades today. No Mint State specimens have been certified. Most survivors are seen in VF to XF condition. Imports from overseas holdings account for a small number of AU representatives, but these are still rare. PCGS and NGC have yet to see a truly Uncirculated example, despite David Akers informing us of the existence of what he identified as a "choice mint state" example in 1980.
PCGS has graded 7 as AU50 with 12 finer. As discussed above, there are no certified Uncirculated pieces, and the highest grade at both PCGS and NGC is AU58. Collectors Universe gives this issue a price of $55,000.00 in AU50.
