BG- 799Q, 1874 California Fractional Gold 25C, Indian Octagonal NGC MS67 Prooflike R5+ - Finest PL-!

Would you like to add the finest known Prooflike example of BG-799Q to your collection? Well, here's your chance! The diagnostic for this popular variety is a widely repunched third star (on the left of the obverse), and the right leg of R in DOLLAR points directly to a berry on the wreath on the reverse. Crafted by jeweler C.F. Mohrig in 1874, this piece carries his distinctive Indian Head obverse. It is inspired by, but not at all similar to, the Indian Head cent of its time.

PCGS has graded 30 of this variety in Mint State and one in Prooflike (MS66PL). NGC has graded 12 BG-799Qs in total: 3 in Mint State, 5 in Prooflike, and 4 in Deep Prooflike. The piece offered by AUCM (MS67PL) is the finest in PL, matched in grade only by one MS67DPL.
