1865-S $20 AU58 NGC. CAC. Ex: S.S. Republic. Small S. With only a few tiny abrasions and lightly textured, satin surfaces that display soft luster, this San Francisco twenty was nearly new when it went down with the ship. More than a century beneath the waves did little to disturb its appeal and technical quality. Perhaps a touch of wear exists or perhaps not, with NGC assigning the near-Mint State grade in part due to the softness in the strike at stars 3 through 7.
