1853 Gold $1 Liberty Head Octagonal, initials DERI on reverse. Rarity-5.

  • Made by M. Deriberpe, 1853-1854.

 

Obverse: 8 six pointed stars; 1st star immediately below point of bust; 6th star joins with upper bun of hair.

Reverse: ‘* CALIFORNIA GOLD *’ and ‘DERI’ outside of circle. 1 DOLLAR 1853 inside circle. The 1 in the date tilts to the left and the 8 & 5 are higher than the 1 & 3. The 1 in DOLLAR is between the NI in CALIFORNIA DOLLAR is horizontal with the first A in CALIFORNIA and the D in Gold. (Same rev. as BG-517.)
