According to A California Gold Rush History, the index of recovered items lists SIXTY (60) 1852 Wass Molitor $10 gold pieces were recovered during the initial salvage. 
On the second salvage attempt, only an additional TWO (2) were brought up from the depths, making the total only 62. Such a remarkable quantity of PIONEER GOLD being recovered in the first salvage attempt has led experts to conclude this group was sent together for some unknown purpose, perhaps to be assayed by the US Mint upon receipt in Philadelphia. PIONEER GOLD is absolutely the numismatic specialists dream - most only imagine how nice it would be to own a single piece of our 1849 California Gold Rush History.
