1870-S $10 Liberty Head Eagle NGC AU55

This is a very rare issue. Out of its scant mintage of 8,000 pieces, there are perhaps 80-100 known to exist today (per PCGS). Between the two leading grading services (PCGS and NGC), there is only one in mint state (PCGS MS61). This is a relatively low price to pay for such a rarity. NGC has graded 12 as AU55 with a single piece finer (AU58). PCGS has graded 9 as AU55 with just 4 finer. The finest at PCGS is a sole MS61. Therefore, this AU55 offering from AUCM is near the top of the graded populations of both major grading services. Plus it is housed in the NGC Green Label holder; only the finest pieces are placed in the Green Label holder. Collectors Universe gives this issue a price of $22,500 in AU55.
