Nicholas I Rouble. St. Petersburg Mint. Rare issue in a premium grade. NGC has graded 2 specimens as MS65+, with a mere 2 finer. Lustrous, reflective piece. Obverse presents the Triple-crowned Imperial Russian eagle of 1844, within a beaded circle. The majestic bird holds a scepter and orb within its powerful talons. Outside the beaded circle at the rim is: 'ЧИСТAГО СЕРЕБРА 4 ЗОЛОТНИКА 21 ДОЛЯ.' Below the eagle are the initials ПА, split by the tail feathers. The reverse is decorated with a laurel wreath, within which is found 'MOHETA / РУБЛЬ / 1849 / СПБ.' KM-C168.1; Bit-262; D283; Sev-3557.
